sympathetic ADJECTIVE 1) feeling, showing, or expressing sympathy. 2) showing approval of an idea or action. 3) pleasing, likeable, or sensitively designed. 4) Physiology referring to the part of the autonomic nervous system supplying the internal organs, blood vessels, and glands, and balancing the action of the parasympathetic nerves. 5) arising in response to a similar action elsewhere.
